Dear Friends,
In their effort to get to a better, more free and productive life, many individuals have
left their home countries to the south of Egypt --Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia-- mainly
in an effort to get to Israel.
But along the way, these hapless refugees and migrant workers are mistreated by
those they encounter, and by those who seek them out, while they are passed from
one group of Rashaida and Egyptian Bedouin to another for extorted money --
classic human trafficking.
But it does not stop there. Very few of the refugees actually make it to Israel. Many
are stopped along the way or at the border itself, often to be shot and wounded or
even killed by Egyptian security police, and then sent to jail, where they
may languish for many months or even years. Some end up in the hospital, often
needing surgery that is not funded.
This is where we come in: we do our best to look after these refugees and as funds
permit, provide food, clothing and medicine. From time to time we assist with
finances so that surgery can be done to help repair damage done by shooting. And
we help with advocacy so that some may be sent to a safe country.
But there is much to be done -- there are hundreds of such refugees needing help
and assistance. Your donation will provide such help.
Thank you!
Good health,
Sincerely yours,
حمدى العزازى
